The brief was to finish it off as an internal user brakevan for the industrial section on the club layout. From the base grey, I tried a new method, picking random planks out in various grey, brown and white (!) shades. The idea here is to give the look of fading, pealing paint aswell as planks that have been replaced at different times. Its brought upon some success and I'm quite happy with the look.
Once this was done, transfers were added. The Midland Number plates were included with the original kit, been Methsfix they were unknown ground to me but application was easy following the included instructions. The 'Internal Use Only' and number 7 transfers are from Planet Industrials. These are waterslide transfers, and although a little delicate, they apply smoothly.
With transfers on and sealed with a coat of Varnish, the brake van was treated to a mucky black wash. The underframe dry rushed with RailMatch frame dirt. A touch of rust weathering powders was used around the chassis area also, before a final seal of matt varnish.
To finish a figure was added leaning on the vans balcony. This is a ModelU product that's been sat in the parts box for many years. He was treated to a Paint and weathering job like the van, and for a first attempt at 4mm scale figure painting I'm rather pleased! With the figure attached the van was finished and handed back to to its rightful owner!
Until next time.
