Bargain Class 37 Part 4 - Getting Mucky!

The budget class 37 project has reached a raise where its time to get mucky...
The body has been 'atacked' with various washes and dry brushing to give a suitable grubby look. The first stage was a wash of white, applied thinly and wiped away, to help tone down the body and fade the livery slightly.
Following this various grey and brown washes were applied to give a look I was happy with. Its always worth remembering to wipe away downwards, in the direction gravity would cause muck to run in the rain! Rust colours and more precise weathering was added after this to give streaks in certain places, and a little of drybrushing of gun metal over the grills.
It's difficult to photograph but the roof was also attacked. More brown shades were used here to give the look of muck hanging and sticking to rivet detail. A soot coloured weathering powder was mixed with water to give the staining from exhaust fumes, the powder helping to add a little texture.
Until next time.
