Bargain Class 37 Part 3 - Shiny

With the grills painted up, and making the model look a little smarter, I discovered you can pick up etched BR Double Arrow plaques relatively cheap!
These ones came from Nairnshire Model Supplies via eBay, and cost a few pounds. One a Railfreight grey Class 37, there is one on each side mounted at the cab ends.
As expected, Hornby have printed the arrows in place, and my initial plan was to fasten the new etched plates straight over the top. Annoyingly the printed arrows were slightly bigger than the etched arrows! Gental scraping with a scalpel removed the printing.
As a trial I attached the etched arrows using some gloss Varnish. I've read about this method many times, as a less risky alternative to superglue. I'm pleased to report, with a coat of Varnish over the too, they seemed to be stuck well!
The etched arrows were a simple, cheap addition, perfect for a pocket money project like this, but help lift the model a little more.
Till next time.
