A Look At - Bachmann D Class Bogie Open in OO9

While in one of my local-ish model shops the other day I noticed they had some of the Bachmann D Class Opens at 'old' prices.
Since I've got a couple of Dundas Models kits to build of this type I thought it would be nice to pick one up to eventually compare. Supplied in the now common green coloured narrow gauge box, £23 seems to have got me a very nice model!
Initial impressions are very good, with lots of very fine parts, especially the door bangers on the side.
Inside also has the correct detail moulded in, and lovely thin side walls. Livery is well applied, even if has since been removed!
Underneath is basic, however the underframe is a cast piece adding much needed weight to this small bogie wagon. Bogies are held by pins which just pop out if you need to remove them.
The bogies feature fine brake handles, as well as standard Bachmann OO9 couplings clipped into NEM pockets.
All in all I'm very impressed, I've seen these online on sale at around £17, and at that price it's hard to justify the kit version! Sometimes building something is the fun but though.
Till next time.
